The Theology Book Club for Deconstruction/Reconstruction is intended to be a safe space to discuss books and theology from more of a "Progressive Christian"/deconstruction/reconstruction point of view. We are a community of readers who have decided we can no longer be “that kind of Christian”. For some of that means we are becoming a different kind of Christian, while others have left Christianity. We accept those in all paths, but often center around ideas of Christianity and the Church.
We encourage members to discuss any and all books they are interested in, but the center of what we do is centered around a structured book club. We study books together as a community at a rate of one book two months. We value the unique voice of every person, and want to make ways for everyone to contribute at whatever level of commitment they desire.

What We Do
Jennifer Neyhart posts discussion threads based on the reading of the week. (At some point, we may also have groups available on Goodreads and/or Reddit.)
Monthly Discussion Group
Once a month we get together as a group on Discord, a cross-platform communication app that allows for voice and text chat. The monthly group is designed to be an overview (half of the book each month).
Weekly Discussion Group
On the off weeks, smaller groups meet on Discord to dig deeper into smaller sections of the book in more detail. These groups are designed to be 4-8 members so that everyone has a voice.
Every week, John Weldy records the group he’s involved in and posts it as an extension of his podcast Reclaiming Christianity.
The Theology Book Club for Deconstruction/Reconstruction is a secret group, and we value member privacy because we know that not everyone wants others to know they are questioning the beliefs they've been told not to question.
To join the group, send us a request or use the contact form.
